Position Overview

The IT Support & Security Systems Technician will be responsible for providing day-to-day IT support while assisting with the installation, servicing, and maintenance of electronic security systems. This role involves a combination of remote support, on-site client visits, and hands-on technical work.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working in the field, and building a broad skill set across IT and security systems.

 

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident residing in Canada
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Willingness to travel locally to client sites
  • Ability to successfully pass a security clearance and background check

 

Key Responsibilities

IT Support & Operations

  • Troubleshoot and resolve IT issues for clients and internal users
  • Install, configure, and maintain computers, applications, and peripherals
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and passwords
  • Maintain service records and technical documentation
  • Assist with system upgrades and improvements
  • Train users on basic IT best practices

Security Systems

  • Install, service, and repair electronic security systems, including:
  • CCTV and IP camera systems
  • Intrusion (alarm) systems
  • Access control systems
  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and basic diagnostics, including networking and troubleshooting IP issues.
  • Assist with cable installation, equipment mounting, and system commissioning
  • Complete service reports and basic documentation
  • Deliver professional, courteous service to clients on-site
  • Follow safety guidelines and company installation standards
  • Work alongside senior technicians during training and gradually take on independent tasks

 

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Systems, Electronics, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous IT or technical experience

 

Technical Skills

· Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and common business applications

· Basic understanding of networking (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi)

· Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and cloud services

· Interest or basic knowledge of electronic security systems and low-voltage cabling

· Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills

 

Preferred Qualifications (Assets)

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA or similar certifications
  • 5 years Previous experience (Preferred) in trades, IT, alarms, CCTV, or access control
  • Experience using IT ticketing systems and remote support tools
  • Knowledge of on-site safety standards and procedures
